According to Abia Facts Newspaper,A young man believed to be in his mid 20s or early 30s was caught by security vigilante and community youths today, for allegedly stealing motorcycle and blinding the victim.
The young man and his accomplice, who is still on the run, picked a commercial motorcycle rider from Okigwe to Isuikwuato via Ezinachi road to Ndi Ubi farm settlement where they brutally beat the owner of the bike and whisked away with the motorcycle, leaving their victim blind.

"A man saw them while they were taking off with the bike and
called for reinforcement. The villages and vigilante now laid siege, on sighting the villagers, the thieves abandoned the bike and ran into the bush. Unluckily for the apprehended one, he strolled into the trap of the vigilantes who were still waiting all night for them to come out of the bush this morning. Read how a Lagos police officer brutally assaulted Nigerian actress Elma Godwin

Earlier today actress Elma Godwin had reported about how she and her friends were assaulted by a Lagos police man in Victoria island.

She continued from the photo
"this did not even allow us to even see his name or his badge so we know how to address him.
So I picked up my phone to call for help and before I knew it, he forcefully snatched my phone and bag back! " and even trying to get the attention of the few passerby incase anyone could help.

Insults fly as things get heated up, he threatens us multiple times that he will use his belt on us and then I managed to grab my friends bag, but my phone remained in his possession.

He started insulting my parents,  "God punish your mother and father! Your father is an idiot! "

I screamed "you're holding my property! Give me my phone! This is stealing! The police are stealing! "and that was
when he released his grip of my phone and I started walking back to my car.
He chased me and started pushing  and slammed my body against the car.

Thank God my door was still open I jumped in, locked the door and my friend zoomed off.
As we drove off work  felt a sharp pain, I realised I was bleeding on my right hand and three of my nails had been broken. How can a police officer assault me like this?
This is gross misuse of power and brutality..
We called police control, Rapid Response Service (RRS) and the emergency switch board (112).

They weren't helpful at all, instead asked us what we expect them to do and were frankly not concerned.

Someone from RRS advised I go home and call back at 7am.

The emergency switch board told me they would forward my details and we should expect a call back.
Till now, no call back.
This has opened my eyes to the fact that WE ARE NOT SAFE IN NIGERIA!!!

Think about it..if I were being brutally raped robbed or attacked and I called our so called emergency service, nobody would show up.

It's a sobering thought to think that.;
1. The ones who should be protecting you are the ones to really be afraid of

2. If something horrible happens, there's no Calvary, there's no red and blue sirens coming to your aid..
You're on your own!

Hmm...  What do you think?...

FACTORY WORKER TORTURED TO DEATH BY POLICE, FAMILY SEEKS JUSTICE!

Ihuoma Chiedozie, Enugu
CHIBUIKE

To members of his immediate family, Chibuike Edu’s death is like a nightmare that they have not been able to wake up from.
The family is still trying to understand how the 22-year-old ended up in the cell of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Enugu, where he was tortured only to die just 10 minutes after he was rushed to the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, Parklane, Enugu, on May 18, 2016.
To compound the family’s anguish, Chibuike’s death was not even communicated to them, and his body had yet to be released by the police for burial.
The corpse was deposited at the morgue in the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku-Ozala, Enugu, without the knowledge

of the family members, who are now crying out for justice.
Our correspondent learnt that the late Chibuike, a native of Ulepa village in Ntezi, a community in Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, was a factory worker with Intecil Products Limited, which is based in the Emene area of Enugu.
He was the last of the six surviving children of a widow.
The young man, said to be talented in football, relocated from Lagos to Enugu in 2015.
Advised by family members to stay back in Enugu, Chibuike took up a factory job in January 2016, as he waited for a breakthrough in his quest to become a professional footballer.
Chibuike was also seeking to further his studies, following advice from his family that it was better for him to combine academics with a possible career in football.
The factory job was supposed to be a temporary job – a means for Chibuike to raise some money to pursue bigger ambition.
Unfortunately, the temporary job led to his death, putting a permanent stop to his dreams.
According to petitions forwarded to the Senate, House of Representatives, National Human Rights Commission and other bodies by the deceased’s family, an alleged theft in the administrative unit of Intecil Limited, the company he worked for, on April 29, 2016 led to his arrest.
The theft, which involved an unspecified amount of money, was said to have taken place while Chibuike and other workers were on duty.
However, Chibuike was at work in the factory as of the time the theft took place in the administrative offices.
A copy of the petition sent to the National Assembly, which was signed by the deceased’s brother, Oliver Edu, and his sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Orsu, was made available to our correspondent.
Explaining the circumstances of his death, the petition reads, “On April 30, 2016, Chibuike was invited by the Emene Police Division and after his statement at the police station, he was released because they found he was not involved in the theft. But the police detained one Sunday Oche, whom they suspected to be involved.”
The family explained that the Executive Managing Director of Intecil Products Limited, Mr. Chinedu Arodiogu, then requested that the case be transferred to SARS, a police formation specialised in handling armed robbery cases.
Chibuike was promptly arrested again by SARS operatives when he reported to work on May 9, 2016.
Unfortunately, Chibuike never came out alive after his arrest and detention. Seven days later, he was rushed to ESUTH for complications which reportedly came from his torture. There, he died.
Chibuike’s family members said in the petition, “On May 16, 2016, a SARS official, one Mr. Everest, informed us that, upon his investigation, ‘the boy (Chibuike) is innocent but he should wait in the cell.’”
Elizabeth, the sister, added that when she brought food to Chibuike at the SARS detention facility on May 17, “she noticed bruises and scars all over his body, indicative of torture.”
She added that during the visit, Chibuike confirmed to her that the SARS operatives tortured him to force him to confess.
Chibuike said he did not yield to the torture, Elizabeth said in the petition.
However, when the family members visited again on May 18, they were told that Chibuike was dead.
Since then, the family had been denied access to Chibuike’s corpse, which had been deposited in the morgue at UNTH.
“On June 2, 2016, the family visited the mortuary but they were denied access to the body again.
“According to the mortician, Chibuike’s body is labelled as “armed robber” therefore no one could have access to it without police permission,” the petition added.
The family members further alleged that the management of Intecil Limited and SARS are collaborating to cover up their roles in Chibuike’s death.
The family has alleged collusion between the management of Intecil Limited and police over the murder of their son.
They said the company had yet to officially communicate to the family of Chibuike about his death.
In the petitions to the Senate, House of Representatives, National Human Rights Commission, the family has called for the prosecution of those responsible for the killing of their son.
They have also demanded an independent autopsy on Chibuike’s remains.
The deceased’s family insists that there must be an adequate compensation and a public apology from Intecil Limited and the police, while also demanding a befitting burial for him.
“The death of late Chibuike is a clear case of torture and illicit treatment and more worrisome is the fact that the young lad was completely innocent of the phantom claim against him,” the family said.
The lawyer representing the victim’s family, Andrew Nwokocha, told our correspondent that, if the petitions failed to yield the desired result, they would head to court to demand justice.
Officials of the NHRC, on June 2, visited Intecil Limited for a meeting with the Executive Director, Mr. Chinedu Arodiogu, and the Administrative Manager, Mr. Benjamin Oke.
In a memo to the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State, dated June 1, 2016, entitled ‘An appeal for your intervention: Torture and extra-judicial murder of Chinedu Edu by SARS, Enugu, the NHRC reported that, during the meeting at Intecil Limited, “both Mr. Arodiogu and Mr. Oke were very reluctant to discuss the alleged theft in their office apartment, the investigation by Emene Police Station and the involvement of SARS”.
The memo, which was made available to our correspondent, was signed by the Zonal Coordinator of the NHRC, Barrister Uche Nwokocha, for the Executive Secretary.
According to the NHRC, the Intecil Limited management explained that an office was broken into in which a safe where millions of naira and recharge cards were stolen. They were not sure about the time of the day it happened on Friday, April 29, 2016.”
Saturday PUNCH learnt that Arodiogu and Oke equally informed the commission that “the Emene Police Station identified one suspect, Sunday Oche, because some recharge cards kept in the safe were found in his possession. Suspect insisted that he picked the cards on the floor beside the broken safe”.
The NHRC said in its report, “Mr. Arodiogu said the case was transferred to the SARS because he was not satisfied with the way the Emene Police Station was handling the matter. Mr. Arodiogu and Mr. Oke refused to say whether the application was made orally or in writing to SARS; and who the application was addressed to. They also refused to disclose who gave the ‘statement’ to SARS, based on which their workers were arrested.
“Mr. Arodiogu denied that both late Chibuike and Alphor Pius (a security staff of the company who was equally arrested) were tortured. He said that he was informed that late Chibuike died of brief sickness, and the injuries for which Alphor Pius was admitted in the hospital were self-inflicted because he attempted suicide in SARS cell.”
From its findings, the commission also gave an insight into how Chibuike passed away at the hospital.
“In the wee hours of May 18, 2016, late Chibuike was brought to Enugu State University Teaching Hospital by SARS policemen. According to the nurse who attended to him, he was completely battered. His body was lacerated, and the bones seemed to have been broken at some points; but there was no gunshot wound on him.
“Before the medical treatment could be administered, less than 10 minutes after admission into the hospital, Chibuike died. The body was immediately removed by SARS and taken to the UNTH mortuary in Ituku-Ozala.”
The commission therefore urged the Commissioner of Police, Enugu, to “liaise with the Commander SARS, and the Medical Director, UNTH, Ituku-Ozala, to ensure that an autopsy is conducted on the body of the late Chibuike, after which it should be released to his family for burial.
The NHRC also called for a “detailed medical examination and report on Alphor Pius, who was allegedly tortured to the point of death by SARS.”
The National Human Rights Commission demanded the prosecution of “all those found culpable in the murder of Chibuike Edu and torture of Alphor Pius.”
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Police Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, said he would get back to our correspondent.
Meanwhile, the management of Intecil Limited has refused to speak on the matter.
When contacted on the telephone, the administrative manager, Oke, told our correspondent, “I don’t have anything to tell you. Revert to our lawyer please.”
But he dropped the call without disclosing the identity and telephone numbers or address of the said lawyer.
Oke later called on Friday and told our correspondent to get in touch with Intecil Limited’s lawyer, Barrister G. Ekoh.
When contacted, Ekoh insisted that Chibuike was responsible for the theft in the company’s administrative unit.
The lawyer said the money allegedly stolen from the company’s safe was ‘about N1million’.
He claimed that Chibuike was the one that hid the stolen cash.
Ekoh also said it was the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State,  that transferred the case to SARS, following reservations expressed by the management of Intecil Limited over the way the case was being handled by Emene police station.
The lawyer said Chibuike’s death was not as a result torture. According to him, the young man became sick while in the custody of SARS and subsequently died when he was taken to hospital.
“He (Chibuike) was sick in police custody and he was rushed to hospital where he died. Apart from that, another suspect in the theft also attempted to commit suicide but he was also taken to hospital where he recovered.
“The other suspect was also charged for attempting to commit suicide, in addition with the theft,” Ekoh said.
According to him, the court case involving the alleged theft is ongoing.

Lady bathed with acid for having affair with married man

For having affairs with a married man, a young lady is currently battling to save her life

A 26-year-old lady identified as Jamila Musa, is currently fighting for her life at the hospital, after being bathed with acid in her house on Sunday, May 29.

The indigene of Edo state who works with Flour Mills of Nigeria, said she had recognized the voice of her assailant prior to being bathed in acid.

Here’s what she said below:

“A minute to 10pm on Sunday, I was sleeping in my room when I heard a knock on my door. I didn’t recognize the voice immediately but now I am sure of the voice. He said my boyfriend sent him to give me a message. My boyfriend usually sends motorcycle operators to me so I assumed he was the one that sent this one and as I was trying to open the door, he poured the acid on my face. I rushed outside, I could not shout for about five minutes but when I started shouting, my neighbours gathered and washed my face with soap; they applied honey and pap to it before rushing me to the hospital.

I suspect his wife sent someone to attack me, I did not know at first that he was married but when I realized it, I tried to cut him off. I only knew that he was married when his wife started sending me text messages, insulting and threatening me, I even told him that I was going to report her to the police but he asked me to leave her alone.

Jamila also said the police has been notified of her ordeal, and claims the hospital she was taken to (Kubwa general hospital, Abuja) abandoned her:

“I have reported to the Zuba police station and they said they will arrest my boyfriend, his wife and her brother. But this people here are not attending to me, I feel as if my condition is now worse, compared to when I came; I can no longer see well, the acid did not affect my eyeballs so I believe that when the swelling reduces, I will see again. But they are not attending to me, if they cannot treat me, they should refer me elsewhere, they should take care of me, I don’t want to lose my sight.

Look at my face, I want to recover from this, the acid did not affect my eyeball, I can see the reflection of light from the windows, I just want the swelling to go down but I feel abandoned, they treat others and abandon me, if they cannot do it, they should refer me to another hospital. This thing was not like this when I came here; I am scared; I don’t want to rot here.”

The hospital denied her accusations of abandonment through the medical director Dr. Amadu Danfulani, who said she has been undergoing treatment. Here’s what he said below:

“We have not neglected her, she is being treated; she was treated this morning and given her regular medication. She is in pains but we cannot give her an overdose of pain relief, we will till the appropriate time to give her the medication but she is in good hands and we are taking care of her.”

According to Dr Okuongghu Frank who is in charge of her case, she’s in no danger of losing her sight. Here’s what he said:

“Her fears of blindness are because of the swelling but once the swelling reduces, hopefully, she will see better. But that is not to say everything is okay because there are some follow-ups to do. She has the right to be scared but with adequate management, she will get better. Hers is different, she was not seriously burnt, it is superficial burns, her skin was not really burnt.”

One of her colleagues at work identified as Banji Johnson, said he was surprised at what she’s going through. Here’s what he said:

“We have worked together for about a year and half, she is not troublesome, never quarrels with anyone, free and extremely hard-working so we were surprised at what happened to her. We mobilized ourselves to visit her as soon as we heard the news in the office. We believe that with God, all things are possible and she will get better. We appeal to the hospital to take care of her.”

Her younger sister Hassana, said she almost didn’t recognize her when she went to see her at the hospital. Here’s what she said:

“We don’t stay together, my elder sister called me yesterday to say someone poured Jamila acid and when I came to check on her, I could not recognize her. Our father is dead but our mother is still alive and on her way here.”

Man kills lover, post photos of murder on facebook

From left to right: Kenneth Alan Amyx and Jennifer Streit-Spears

A disturbing incident took place in Plano, Texas, USA, where a 45-year-old man killed his girlfriend and later posted photos of her murder on her Facebook page. Kenneth Alan Amyx even accompanied one of the gruesome images with the caption: “Please pray for us and love you all.”

Jennifer Streit-Spears, aged 43, were found only after her sister saw the photos online and called emergency services. When police forced their way into the apartment they found the woman dead at her home along with her boyfriend who had multiple self-inflicted stab wounds.

He was taken to a local hospital and later arrested on suspicion of murder. Meanwhile, Streit-Spears’s sister was trying to remove the sickening photos from Facebook, but was told they didn’t violate the site’s terms.

Following Amyx’ arrest, officers discovered he has also been charged with indecent exposure to a child and continued sexual abuse of a child under 14. The motive behind Ms Streit-Spears’ is still unclear, the investigation is ongoing.

This is not the first time Facebook is used by criminals to confess to their atrocities.  An 18-year-old woman has been arrested after she admitted on Facebook that she had stabbed her boyfriend to death in San Bernadino, California, USA.

A man from Florida killed his wife and even posted a photo of her lifeless body on his Facebook page with a note asking for understanding of his actions.

Chinese white dolphin appears again

A Chinese white dolphin is seen recently in the Beibu Gulf in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The Beibu's Gulf is the only place that still sees traces of the Chinese white dolphin.

The number of the endangered species has been growing steadily here.

This may be their last hope of survival
