Earlier today actress Elma Godwin had reported about how she and her friends were assaulted by a Lagos police man in Victoria island.
She continued from the photo
"this did not even allow us to even see his name or his badge so we know how to address him.
So I picked up my phone to call for help and before I knew it, he forcefully snatched my phone and bag back! " and even trying to get the attention of the few passerby incase anyone could help.
Insults fly as things get heated up, he threatens us multiple times that he will use his belt on us and then I managed to grab my friends bag, but my phone remained in his possession.
He started insulting my parents, "God punish your mother and father! Your father is an idiot! "
I screamed "you're holding my property! Give me my phone! This is stealing! The police are stealing! "and that was
when he released his grip of my phone and I started walking back to my car.
He chased me and started pushing and slammed my body against the car.
Thank God my door was still open I jumped in, locked the door and my friend zoomed off.
As we drove off work felt a sharp pain, I realised I was bleeding on my right hand and three of my nails had been broken. How can a police officer assault me like this?
This is gross misuse of power and brutality..
We called police control, Rapid Response Service (RRS) and the emergency switch board (112).
They weren't helpful at all, instead asked us what we expect them to do and were frankly not concerned.
Someone from RRS advised I go home and call back at 7am.
The emergency switch board told me they would forward my details and we should expect a call back.
Till now, no call back.
This has opened my eyes to the fact that WE ARE NOT SAFE IN NIGERIA!!!
Think about it..if I were being brutally raped robbed or attacked and I called our so called emergency service, nobody would show up.
It's a sobering thought to think that.;
1. The ones who should be protecting you are the ones to really be afraid of
2. If something horrible happens, there's no Calvary, there's no red and blue sirens coming to your aid..
Tinsel actress April joju muse has come out to shed more light on what transpired between her and her 19year old brother

May the devil never come to our homes"

Chika Ike is a Nollywood actress who has enjoyed prominence and mainstream appeal over the years.
The 30-year-old actress left her marriage in July, 2013 citing domestic abuse which led to a miscarriage among other things.
Here’s an excerpt of what she shared to the world in defense after it was speculated several times that she married for money:
“The past three years has been a very emotional period for me, I focused my energy on work and to build back my self-esteem.
“It’s been really hard for me to come out straight and talk about this because sometimes, I pinch myself to wake up and not believe that I was a victim of domestic violence. I’ve been through a lot in my life, faced a lot of challenges but this is one topic I’ve tried so hard to avoid and have been waiting for the right time but I have come to a resolve that there’s really no right time because every second of the day, lives are being lost due to domestic violence.
“I was a victim of domestic violence in my marriage and that was the singular reason I left my marriage, aside other reasons.
“Growing up as a girl, I was always known as the sweetest kid on the block, before I got married, I have been through some relationships and for once no man had ever laid a finger on me. The first time it happened in my marriage I didn’t understand it because I am not the type of woman a man beats but I guess there are no types.
“It just happens and no woman deserves it. As a young girl I thought it was love or his way of expressing his emotions, after every beating he pleads , cries and says it won’t happen again, once again I thought it was love and made excuses for him.
“Over the years when it kept happening consistently, I started looking for other definitions for it. I started loosing my self pride, self esteem, self worth, and most painfully I lost a pregnancy (Miscarriage). I almost lost my life in the process then I realised how serious and abnormal it really was.
“I have heard and read a lot of accusations from ignorant people who don’t know my story, I guess that’s why they are ignorant. I was 20 yrs old and very naive to the world when I got married . ‘They said I married for money’ LOL. I was married to a corporate guy, who had a 9 to 5 job in a bank, lives in a rented 2 bedroom apartment at [Ikotun,] Egbe.”
