One year in Buhari administration, tell us what it's been like

President Muhammadu Buhari’s work addressing the security challenges bedeviling the country started immediately on inauguration day on May 29 2015.
President Buhari, during the 2015 presidential campaign, derided the People Democratic Party (PDP) Administration of Goodluck Jonathan for not doing enough to check the excess of Boko Haram insurgents and other forms of crimes in the country.
In his inaugural speech, he  ordered the armed forces to immediately relocate their command and control center to Maiguri Borno State, considered  as the epicenter of insurgent activities in the North Easte

See the cute photo of hubby and baby sleeping Chrissy teigen shared

Chrissy teigen shares cute snap of hubby John Legend sleeping with baby Luna

I slept with her just once.. Burna boy denies pregnancy see fans reactions on Twitter

Nigerian dance-hall act, Burna Boy recently released a video confirming he indeed slept with lady, Uju Stella, who claim he impregnated her.

The problem now however, is that Burna Boy naively claims that the s*x act only happened once.

After that, Nigerian Twitter users weighed in on the issue, sharing opinions and teaching Burna Boy about reproduction…and the importance of the “Pulling Out” method.

Below are some of the reactions on twitter:

Ibinabo is facing God's punishment; because of her wickedness.- nollywood actress says

After she received a ban from the then president of the Actor’s Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Ibinabo Fiberesima, for biting her colleague during a fight, upcoming actress Christabel Goddy, has lashed out at the embattled actress

After biting her colleague on the thigh following a fight. they had in their hotel room three months ago, upcoming Nollywood actress Christabel Goddy, allegedly received a ban from the then president of the AGN, Ibinabo Fiberesima.

Nollywood actresses Christabel Goddy and Princess Chineke, had been having an argument which later led to a fight. See a picture from the fight below:

Even though the ban was later lifter by the new AGN president, Emeka Ike, Christabel has turned around to say former president Ibinabo Fiberesima’s recent court case, is a punishment from God.

Christabel told Saturday Beats that people went ahead to castigate her without hearing her own side of the story. Here’s what she had to say:

“I am not a cannibal; I have never eaten a human flesh in my life. I feel sad when I read that they call me a cannibal but I am a very strong person. If you are innocent of something, with time you would be vindicated. I am happy that people who have had to relate with me know that I am a peace-loving person.”

When asked about the ban placed on her by Ibinabo Fiberesima, she had this to say:

My only regret is that I indulged her and I am not proud of it. But then with my age and the little number of years I have spent in the industry, I should be excused. Politicians fight every day, so I don’t see why I should be buried. I did not kill anybody. Ibinabo was accused of killing somebody and she was walking on the street, bragging before the law caught up with her. I believe that it is because she passed a wrong judgement against me that God is punishing her. Her ban against me was flimsy and uncalled for even though it has been lifted by Emeka Ike.

I was in her office and she told me that I was a very decent young lady from the way we were chatting, my lawyer was there and I am quoting her verbatim. She told me not to worry that the matter was just a fight between two people. She advised that I work on my temperament. She said that she would settle the matter and reverse the ban. She even went as far as taking me to the stadium where they had their veteran football competition and introduced me to the chairman, board of trustees and some directors. As she was introducing me, some of the men told me that I didn’t look the part of a fighter and that I should be more careful next time and avoid people who would trigger my anger. She promised the man that she would take control of the situation.

She asked me to come to her office the next day and I was there with my lawyer, we waited for seven hours but Ibinabo refused to see me. She gave a flimsy excuse that the other actress was not available because she went to treat her wound. My lawyer was of the opinion that the other girl did not have to be there, that all Ibinabo should have done was to reconcile us and reverse the ban she placed on me. She is certainly paying for the wickedness she meted out on me because God does not joke with me. I don’t go about looking for trouble; I live a very private life. I am not a saint but I try my best to help people.”

Hmmm…What do you think?

Kemi Olunloyo Accuses Olamide Of sorcery, hmmm!

This sounds crazy but well, its hard to shy away from such allegations. Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo, also known online as Snitchlady, a Nigerian journalist, pharmacist, gun violence activist and social media personality, has accused the YBNL boss Olamide of wizardry.

Kemi, who’s twitter handle is @HNNAfrica made a post saying; “First Lil Kesh, next Adekunle Gold, proof the rituals have broken down at YBNL”, weird yeah ??

Is no more news that Lil Kesh has left YBNL to flag his own record label YAGI but rumors have been circulating the entire blogoshpere that Orente singer Adekunle Gold could still be on his way out of the label.  to flag his “GOLD” record label also.

Could it be possible that there is a bit of sorcery attached to YBNL‘s success which has finally hit the rocks or is it just a mere allegation? Well that’s if you believe in jazz. It would also interest you to know that she predicted the Tiwa Savage and TeeBillz fall out back in 2013.

Maybe she sees visions!!! Who knows?

Whizz kids yearn for chance to shine

English Premier League whizz kids Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi hope for game time when Nigeria play two friendlies in Europe this month while continuing with coaching musical chairs.

Iheanacho scored 14 goals for Manchester City this season, but did not start in a key 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Egypt two months ago that the ‘Super Eagles’ lost.

Kelechi Iheanacho

Fellow teenager Iwobi has impressed for Arsenal, earning praise from hard-to-please manager Arsene Wenger, yet also sat on the bench in Alexandria.

Odion Ighalo, who struggled to score in the second half of the Premier League season for Watford, made the starting line-up in the home and away games against Egypt.

Salisu Yusuf will be in charge for matches against Mali and Luxembourg — the third coach of the national team this year after Sunday Oliseh and Samson Siasia.

Oliseh quit soon after a stinging social media attack against his critics and Siasia was not retained when Nigeria lost in Egypt and failed to qualify for the 2017 Cup of Nations.

Leading Nigerian officials publicly stated that they want a foreign coach to lead the Super Eagles in the 2018 World Cup group campaign, which kicks off this October.

But they chose Yusuf, who has assisted several Nigeria coaches, for matches against Mali in French city Rouen on May 27 and Luxembourg in Luxembourg City four days later.

“I have paid my dues so it cannot be said that my appointment was a surprise,” Yusuf told reporters after his appointment.

“The friendlies are important as two victories will improve our FIFA ranking ahead of the World Cup group draw during June.”

ALEX IWOBI

Should CAF continue to use world rankings, Nigeria could be only third seeds, leaving them open to drawing a giant like Ivory Coast in a section from which only the winners go to Russia.

The Nigeria friendlies are among 16 involving African national teams during May, starting with Ivory Coast playing Euro 2016 qualifiers Hungary Friday.

Reigning African champions, the Ivorians will experiment in Budapest with stars like Yaya Toure, Gervinho and Serge Aurier being rested.

Four-time African Footballer of the Year Toure last played for the ‘Elephants’ in the 2015 Cup of Nations final 15 months ago, which they won after a penalty shootout against Ghana.

Nantes defender Koffi Djidji, Sparta Prague midfielder Tiemoko Konate and Bristol City striker Jonathan Kodjia are among those in line to make international debuts.

Cameroon have omitted suspended captain Stephane Mbia for a May 30 friendly against Euro 2016 hosts France in Nantes.

Belgium-born coach Hugo Broos said the China-based midfielder was ineligible having been red-carded in a friendly loss to Nigeria last year.

Young Tottenham Hotspur striker Clinton Njie is available after recovering from a lengthy knee injury.

Uganda coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has called up striker Melvyn Lorenzen from Werder Bremen, who narrowly escaped relegation from the Bundesliga.

The 21-year-old who was born in London is part of a squad for a May 31 friendly against Zimbabwe in Harare.

Retro series: Old photos of Lagos that you probably haven’t seen before

In this Retro series, Naij.com brings you old photos and perspectives about Lagos that you are probably unaware of.

Lagos has come a long way and its significance in Nigeria cannot be overemphasized.

The state was the capital of Nigeria for a long time and even before then; it was the white man’s delight during the slave trade period due to its strategic coastal location.

When Nigeria gained independence in 1960, Eko, as Lagos is called among the Yoruba speaking people recorded a high surge in visitors as many Nigerians moved into places once occupied by the white men.

READ ALSO:

Many people who live in Lagos are familiar with its economic position in the country and beyond which is why it has always attracted people within and outside the country.

Many people are however unaware of how the centre of excellence looked like during the period before and after independence. Popular places like Carter Bridge, Yaba, Ikorodu Road, Ikoyi, Lagos Island, etc. have been part of the history of Lagos.

It doesn’t come as a surprise to hear people refer to Lagos as a no-man’s land. While this is entirely not true, this can be forgiven as many people have stayed in Lagos all their lives and consider it their home.

Whether Lagos is your ancestral or accepted home or you a visitor to the city, you can’t but marvel at the level of development the city as seen. This is however not accidental as Lagos has started its developmental project a long time ago.

These nostalgic photos of Lagos will show you the level of development the city has undergone and how much of the old places remain.

Can you recognise some of the places?

Exclusive details on why music star Ice Prince left Chocolate City

– Nigerian hip hop star Ice Prince Zamani opens up on leaving Chocolate City music

– The Oleku rapper is not the first to take a walk from the foremost Nigerian music company

– In the past Brymo and Jesse Jagz had walked out of the label at different points, even though Jesse made a return in April 2015

– NAIJ.com reached out to Chocolate City and a rep spoke exclusively to us on the issues surrounding the rapper’s exit

Nigerian music star Ice Prince Zamani has announced that he is officially out of contract with foremost Nigerian record label Chocolate City music and the situation has caused quite uproar on social media.

The Aboki rapper did media rounds today, May 19 in promotion of his latest single Chike featuring Mavin Records star Korede Bello and he opened up about the situation both at Cool FM and Beat FM in Lagos.

Ice Prince signed to Chocolate City in 2010 under the tutelage of Audu Maikori and then went on to hit prominence in the Nigerian and African music industry with several hit songs such as Oleku, Aboki, I Swear, Gimme Dat, Can I Talk and N Word among others.

Before now, there were speculations that the 29-year-old was uncomfortable in the music label and wanted out hence the subtle promotion of his new music imprint Super Cool Cats, but he previously denied every such thing stating that Chocolate City is family and he will remain with the label come what may.

In his announcement today, the rapper told Toolz of Beat FM that he is still a part of the label even though his contract is expired and he has decided to move on.

He said that spiritually he is still with Chocolate City but has only chosen to do things a different way for now.

He also downplayed rumours of a rift in-house which led to his public declaration of leaving the label.

The rapper told Cool FM during his interview that his contract expired two years back but he chose not to make it public owing to his relationship with the label’s executive.

Regardless of his decision to move on following the expiration of the contract, the rapper added that he still has a superb working relationship with the Chocolate City, his former label mates and the label’s executives.

NAIJ.com sought to get a clearer picture on the situation and so we reached Chocolate City music for an official statement but a label representative said that the company is not willing to address the issue yet until a press briefing is ready.

When we probed further to know the exact situation between Ice Prince and the label executives, his former label mate and the exact reason(s) the rapper left the company after a streak of successful years musically, the rep told us that a press briefing is being planned and scheduled to hold on Monday, May 23 at the label’s office in Lagos.

In response to our questions on the rapper’s new imprint Super Cool Cats, the rep stated that Ice Prince is still a part of the label even though out of contract as an artiste.

He added that on May 23 Chocolate City will be unveiling Super Cool Cats by Ice Prince and Jagz Nation by Jesse Jagz.

He also stated that Chocolate City is in fact going to unveil both new imprints by the music stars, an allusion to the fact there is an existing working relationship between the label and the artistes.

Ice Prince is not the first artiste to exit the label.

In May 2012, Jesse Jagz left the label and went on to make music independently under Jagz Nation but returned in April, 2015 to the label under the new management structure.

Similarly in 2013, Brymo left the label unceremoniously after a widely publicized spat with label executive Audu Maikori.

The Ara singer cited several reasons for his action and then went on to sign with Tate Music Group in 2015.
